Danica Brown

Danica Brown

is a postdoctoral fellow for the Detroit Partnership for Education Equity and Research (Detroit PEER) at Wayne State University. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics and a Master of Natural Science with a concentration in Mathematics at Louisiana State University. She earned a Ph.D. at Tulane University in Sociology in the City, Culture, and Community program. She began her career in education as a high school math teacher and teacher leader. Her research draws on interdisciplinary perspectives to understand issues of educational equity in K-12 schools with a focus on how the social organization of schools shapes access to educational opportunities for minoritized students. Danica’s current research projects examine college access policies, school choice policies, and attendance improvement strategies.
