Caroline Chauncey

has worked as an editor focused on translating research into practice for more than thirty years. As associate director and editor-in-chief at Harvard Education Press, where she served from 2004 to 2020, she set the editorial direction of the press, acquiring and publishing a broad range of books aimed at bridging gaps between research, policy, and practice in education. Authors included leading figures in the field, senior as well as rising scholars, and practitioners whose work exemplifies the “wisdom of practice.” She also edited the Harvard Education Letter, a nationally recognized newsletter covering education research for practitioners, from 2004 till 2015. Before joining Harvard Education Press, she served as director of publications at Educators for Social Responsibility (now Engaging Schools); served as contributing editor for Raising Kids, a research-based child-development newsletter for parents; and developed award-winning curriculum materials for classroom teachers to accompany public television programming produced by WGBH. Prior to her work in education, she also served as contributing editor at Issues in Science and Technology, published by the National Academy of Sciences, and MIT’s Technology Review.
